In a joint operation by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad and its Uttar Pradesh counterpart, two people were detained in Mumbai, including a suspected agent and recruiter of Pakistan’s espionage agency Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), an official said.
He claimed that on Sunday, the Juhu unit of the ATS and an Uttar Pradesh ATS team conducted a raid on a location in Mumbai’s Jogeshwari neighbourhood and captured the pair as a result of specific intelligence.
Arman Sayyad (62), and Mohammed Salman Siddhiqui (24), were named as the defendants.
The official claimed that Mohammed Salman had been recruited by Sayyad, an alleged ISI agent, and that they had both allegedly assisted Mohamad Raees, another alleged ISI agent.
Raees, a native of Gonda, was detained by the UP ATS for reportedly providing his handlers in Pakistan with information about Indian military installations. Following his detention, there were arrests in the Jogeshwari region.
