As of now, 10 crore people have received the COVID-19 precautionary dose, according to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Friday.

On July 15, the government began a special 75-day campaign to provide free prophylactic doses to everyone 18 years of age and older at public vaccination centres.

“10 crore people now have an additional level of security.

According to Mandaviya in a tweet, “COVID Vaccination #AmritMahotsav is going on in full swing to deliver free preventive dose for all adults.” This is done on the direction of Prime Minister @NarendraModi Ji.

On July 26, the health ministry reported that just 7,30,96,284, or 11% of the approximately 69 crore eligible people aged 18 and over, had received the precautionary dose up to that point.

Officials have blamed the slow uptake to people becoming complacent and losing their sense of dread.

Only 8% of the 64,89,99,721 eligible individuals had received a prophylactic dose as of July 14.
