Akshay Kumar picks up Karan Johar’s Next Biopic

Akshay Kumar has been cast in a period biopic directed by Karan Johar.

Despite the failure of Akshay Kumar’s recent historical film, Samrat Prithviraj, at the box office, Karan has cast the Canadian actor as activist-lawyer Sir Chettur Sankaran Nair (external link), who battled the British Raj to find the truth behind the Jallianwalla Bagh tragedy.

The film will be directed by newbie Karan Singh Tyagi, who produced the Web series Official Bhootiyagiri, and will be based on Raghu and Pushpa Palat’s book The Case That Shook The Empire.

Though Karan announced the project in June 2021, it was only recently revealed that Akshay will play Sir Sankaran.
