Amit Shah: BJP gave the first OBC Prime Minister to India

Amit Shah, the Union Home leader, claimed on Sunday that the opposition Congress had harassed and denigrated members of the Other Backward Classes while it was in power at the federal level.

He also claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party had given the nation its first OBC prime minister in the face of Narendra Modi.

Speaking at a national convention of the Modi community in Ahmedabad, Shah claimed that PM Modi treated OBCs with the respect they deserved and recognised the suffering of low-income residents because he himself was raised in one.

Referring to Congressman Rahul Gandhi’s conviction in a criminal defamation case in 2019 for his statement about the “Modi surname,” he said insulting an individual is not a huge problem, but insulting an entire community and the prime minister is an insult to the whole nation.

“Congress merely ignored, persecuted, and insulted the OBCs during its time in power at the Centre. As soon as the BJP took office, PM Modi treated the OBC population with dignity. And it was the BJP that delivered the nation its first OBC prime minister in the person of Modi, according to Shah, who has been in his native Gujarat for two days.

He told the Modi community members that the BJP had also appointed several OBC chief ministers and given the OBC Commission constitutional legitimacy.

According to the Union minister, the Modi administration has also taken steps to benefit the underprivileged, including implementing reservations in Kendriya and Navodaya Vidyalay schools, implementing reservations in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), and setting up a venture capital fund for OBC business owners.

“For over 56 years, the Congress presided over the nation. However, it never had any effect on OBCs. On the other hand, Modiji accomplished a lot for the OBCs in nine years. Additionally, Modiji never lost interest in the plight of the underprivileged. Because he was raised in a poor family himself, he could relate to their suffering, Shah continued.
