A week after the star was admitted to the hospital with severe burn injuries sustained in a car accident, Anne Heche is still in a critical state and is “not expected to survive,” according to her family.

Heche’s family confirmed on Thursday that the August 5 automobile crash that resulted in his Emmy nomination for best actor had left the actor with a severe brain injury.

“We appreciate everyone’s prayers and well wishes for Anne’s recovery. We also want to thank the caring nurses and hardworking personnel at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills Hospital for taking such good care of Anne.

“Sadly, Anne Heche’s accident caused a severe anoxic brain injury, and she is still in a critical state and in a coma. It is unlikely that she will live, “added the spokeswoman.

Since last Friday, when a car the 53-year-old actor was driving collided with a house and caught fire in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles, she has been recovering in the hospital.

Heche has long chosen to donate her organs, and physicians are working to see whether any of them are still viable while she is still kept on life support.

“Anne had a big heart and was kind to everyone she encountered. She considered her life’s work as doing more than just being extraordinarily talented; she saw it as advancing acceptance of who you love.

The statement read, “She will be remembered for her bold honesty and greatly missed for her light.”

Heche was seen on camera speeding and driving erratically minutes before the collision, as well as getting into another, smaller automobile accident blocks away from the incident site. This has sparked a lot of discussion concerning Heche’s health before the collision.
