The Army reported that security forces killed two terrorists on Wednesday after thwarting an attempt to infiltrate along the LoC in the Jammu and Kashmir area of Kupwara.
An infiltration attempt was thwarted this morning in Macchal Sector, Kupwara, as part of a joint operation between the Indian Army and the J&K Police, according to a tweet from the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army, which is stationed in Srinagar.
Four AK rifles and six hand grenades were among the warlike supplies found at the scene of the gun battle, along with the report that two terrorists had been killed.
Before the rally, the curfew in Manipur was relaxed.
In anticipation of a march on Wednesday, the Manipur government has lifted the daily easing of the curfew in the five valley districts from 5am to 6pm and imposed a severe curfew.
The government’s decision follows a call to everyone to make the “Mothers’ Protest” protest a smashing success from Kwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Coordinating Committee for Peace, which represents the women of the major market in Imphal town.
K Dhaneshori, the co-convenor of the committee, advised all mothers in every neighbourhood to leave their houses between 11 am and 1 pm and hold signs calling for the prompt calling of an emergency assembly session, the rejection of separate administration, and the implementation of the NRC.
She also urged everyone to join the demonstration against the state’s ongoing aggression.
Additionally, security measures have been stepped up in the Imphal town capital.
In a separate event, police apprehended 30 people for their suspected roles in the assault on IGP (Zone 2) K Kabib and his escort on Monday night at Kwakeithel in Imphal West district, during which his vehicle was set on fire.
