Chandra Mohan Patowary of the Environment and Forest Department released two zebras and a giraffe at the Assam State Zoo and Botanical Garden after 30 years.
The two zebras, a male and a female, are one and three years old, respectively, and were imported from the Mysore Zoo in Karnataka.Zebras Joy and Joya were given names by the forest ministry on Monday.
The five-year-old female giraffe was transported from the Patna Zoo in Bihar and will join the zoo’s existing male giraffe. The couple, known as Bijoy and Bijaya Patowary, wished that the zoo’s administrators could properly care for the animals and boost their number.
According to him, various measures have been made to develop the zoo’s infrastructure, and project reports are being developed for the facility’s rebuilding.
