Bebika Dhurve of 'Bigg Boss OTT 2' slams influencers for making the show 'low grade'

Mumbai, July 10 (IANS) Actress Bebika Dhurve, a former ‘Bigg Boss OTT 2’ contestant, expressed concerns that influencers are diminishing the show’s integrity.

The actress emphasised the necessity of authentic actors to restore the show’s genuineness.

Bebika, who rose to fame as Devika Oberoi in ‘Bhagya Lakshmi’, shared her thoughts on the current season of ‘Bigg Boss OTT’.

The actress said: “Since influencers are being brought in as contestants, the show is losing its charm.”

“You need actors in the show because they are genuine people in real life too. Influencers are showing their fake life on social media; how will they be real in a reality show? I feel if the makers fill up the show with influencers, dignified actors would not want to come as contestants.”

Commenting on the recent controversy where Vishal was slapped by Armaan, Bebika said: “I feel this situation could have been handled better. Verbal abuse happens in the show, but physical abuse is not right. I believe that complimenting someone’s wife is not a bad thing. They could have handled the situation in a sensible way.”

The show airs on JioCinema Premium.

Mumbai, July 23 (IANS) Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming production, Little Thomas, starring Gulshan Devaiah and Rasika Dugal, is heading to the upcoming edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IIFM) for its world premiere.

The film marks the feature directorial debut of Kaushal Oza, who has won the National Film Awards twice for his short films ‘Afterglow’ and ‘Vaishnav Jan Toh’.

Talking about the film, Anurag said: “I had seen Kaushal’s short film ‘The Miniaturist of Junagadh’ and liked it. Then I read the ‘Little Thomas’ script and understood his vision for it. He wanted to make a genuine children’s film while creating a world from a kid’s perspective. The honesty of his approach has helped make the film.”

The film also stars child artiste Hridansh Parekh. Set in the Goa of the 1990s, it follows Thomas, the only child of his parents, who desperately wants a little brother.

Gulshan said: “It’s a sweet, cute film, and I am thrilled it’s going to be shown at IFFM. The most special thing about ‘Little Thomas’ is its story and the beautiful innocence in its world. Rasika is a wonderful actor whom I’ve admired for a while now. She’s very professional and dedicated to her craft. I was lucky to work with her.”

Eminem grabs top spot on Billboard 200 with new album, Taylor Swift on 4th spot

Los Angeles, July 23 (IANS) Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, who had been on the Number 1 spot on the Billboard 200 since the release of her album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, has now been replaced by Rap icon Eminem for the top spot.

Eminem has grabbed the top spot courtesy of his album ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace)’, reports Variety.

‘The Death of Slim Shady’ marks Eminem’s 12th album, and opened at the top of the all-genre-inclusive chart with the equivalent of 281,000 album units in the United States.

As per Variety, it also logs 220 million streams and 114,000 sales, the data is provided by Luminate. Eminem first announced the album during the NFL Draft in April, and later published an obituary in the Detroit Free Press bidding adieu to Slim Shady, his career-long alter ego that he’s played as a character in his songs and in videos.

The LP is Eminem’s first record since ‘Music to Be Murdered By’, a January 2020 release. ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace)’ is Eminem’s eleventh album to reach the Number 1 spot, a figure that puts him in a tie with Bruce Springsteen, Barbra Streisand and Ye (Kanye West).

Los Angeles, July 23 (IANS) Singer-songwriter Chris Brown has been slapped with a legal action for his alleged misdemeanour.

He has been sued for $50 million resulting from an incident that took place backstage at one of his concerts, reports Variety.

Larry Parker, Joseph Lewis, Charles Bush and Da Marcus Powell filed the suit in Harris County, Texas, on Tuesday, against Brown as well as his tour promoter Live Nation, Sinko Ceej, Hood Boss and Yella Beezy.

In addition to the payment, the four plaintiffs are asking for a temporary restraining order against all defendants. According to the complaint, which was first reported by TMZ and accessed by Variety, Brown and his crew severely beat the plaintiffs following the singer’s performance as part of his 11:11 Tour at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

As per Variety, the four men were invited backstage after the set to meet Brown, who showed up 30 minutes later than anticipated.
