Following a police lathi charge on Thursday as the party marched towards the assembly in Patna, a scandal erupted regarding the “death” of a Bihar BJP leader.

The local government quickly responded to the saffron party’s claim that its Jehanabad district general secretary died from wounds sustained in a “brutal” police lathi charge.

Vijay Kumar Singh, a resident of the district of Jehanabad, was “found unconscious by the roadside,” according to a statement from the district administration in Patna.

The statement further stated that Singh had been brought to PMCH, the biggest government hospital in the state, and that no signs of injuries had been discovered on his body.

However, there were allegations going about that Singh had passed away. Singh had travelled to this location to participate in the “Vidhan Sabha march” against the Nitish Kumar government’s teacher recruitment strategy.

Sushil Kumar Modi, a senior member of the BJP and a former deputy chief minister, tweeted, “GS Vijay Kumar Singh died in a brutal police lathi charge. Arrested by Bihar police in Patna, Jehanabad dist.”

JP Nadda, the president of the BJP, asserted in a tweet that the state government’s failure and outrage led to the lathi attack on BJP members in Patna.
