Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President and BJP Kaiserganj MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who has been accused of sexual harassment by seven female wrestlers, is preparing to make a statement at a rally in Ayodhya on June 5 at a time when various Opposition parties and civil society organisations are reaching out to wrestlers protesting at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
However, the BJP branch in Ayodhya has disassociated itself from the rally.
The Jan Chetna Maha Rally at Ayodhya, where sadhus and professionals in law, education, and social work have been invited from several states, will be addressed by Brij Bhushan.
The Delhi Police have filed two FIRs against the MP at the time of the demonstration. Singh had avoided political programming since the FIRs were published.
But during the last week, he has been visiting various Awadh districts in UP, including Gonda, Ayodhya, Bahraich, and Basti, to invite people to the Ayodhya demonstration.
“The rally is not connected to the BJP. We won’t participate until the leadership requests it. According to Sanjeev Singh, the head of the BJP’s Ayodhya district, we have not yet received any such instructions.
Party members won’t attend the gathering since Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is organising it in personal capacity, according to a top BJP leader from Awadh.
