Chris Rock’s mother Rose views on Will Smith slap

Will Smith slapped Chris Rock in the face at the Oscars last month, and Chris Rock’s mother Rose is speaking out about it.

Smith was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance in King Richard, a drama film. When Rock took the stage and made a joke about Smith’s wife Jada Pinket Smith referencing the film G.I. Jane (starring Demi Moore), the actor took the stage and slapped the comedian. Pinket-Smith was later diagnosed with alopecia, which was revealed later.

Rose, a motivational speaker, told WIS’ Billie Jean Shaw, “You reacted to your wife giving you the side-eye, and you went and made her day because she was mulled over laughing when it happened.”

After hearing Will Smith yell out the F-word, Rose realized that the slap was real and not a prank.

All of us were hit by the slap that Chris received from him. Rose reported that he “really slapped” her. “No one even heard what he had to say. As a result, no one was able to fully immerse themselves in the present moment. When she heard about the incident, she contacted her son to check up on him and to congratulate him for his bravery.

Aside from that, she weighed in on Smith’s apology and noted that the actor, Chris Rock, who issued a public apology on social media, has yet to hear from Smith. Rose said, “I’m really sorry that he didn’t apologize.” When something like this is personal, you reach out. “I mean his people wrote up a piece saying “I apologize to Chris Rock,” but when something like that is personal, you reach out.”
