Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Thursday that the Delhi government has authorized all state-run sports facilities in the city to remain open for athletes till 10 p.m.
“It has come to my attention that athletes are having difficulties due to the heat, and that stadiums close by 6 or 7 p.m. We’ve issued orders that all sporting facilities remain open till 10 p.m. so that athletes can use them “In New Delhi, he stated.
The directive came after The Indian Express reported that the Thyagraj Stadium was shuttered earlier than usual for sports activities so that an IAS officer may walk his dog there.
Earlier, Manish Sisodia, the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, said Kejriwal has mandated that all state-run sports facilities in the city remain available for athletes until 10 p.m.
In a tweet tagging the media source, Sisodia said: “According to news reports, certain sports facilities are closing early, creating inconvenience to athletes who want to play until late at night (night). CM @ArvindKejriwal has decided that all Delhi government sports facilities remain open until 10 p.m. for athletes.”
