Sanjeet (92 kg), an Indian heavyweight boxer, was eliminated from the Birmingham Commonwealth Games after falling to Ato Leau Plodzicki-Faoagali of Somoa in a split decision.
Sanjeet, the current Asian Champion, paid a high price for playing defensively in the previous two rounds as Faoagali rallied to win the game 3-2 on Saturday.
Sanjeet entered a defensive posture after assaulting in the first round, which he won by a unanimous decision, which allowed Faoagali to reenter the fight.
As Faoagali landed a few blows in the second round, Sanjeet was forced to defend himself. In the third round, he kept up the assault.
