The Pentagon has announced that American Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin will visit New Delhi the next week to meet with his Indian colleague Rajnath Singh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official state visit to the White House next month is preceded by the visit.

As the US and India continue to modernise the US-India Major Defence Partnership, Austin will travel to New Delhi to meet with Rajnath Singh and other leaders, the Pentagon announced on Thursday, announcing the defence secretary’s trip to Japan, Singapore, France, and India the following week.

The Pentagon stated that the visit offers a chance to advance ongoing efforts to increase operational collaboration between the US and Indian forces as well as to launch new defence innovation and industrial partnership initiatives.
