Conflict over bulldozers: Delhi asks civic groups to submit a report

bulldozer encroachment drive

Government officials have requested a detailed report from the Bharatiya Janata Party-run civic bodies on the demolition drives they have been conducting across the city since April 1, sources said.

This follows a flurry of anti-encroachment drives by the three civic bodies in various parts of the city, including Shaheen Bagh, Jahangirpuri Madanpur Khadar, New Friends Colony, Mangolpuri, Rohini, Gokulpuri, Lodhi Colony, and Janakpuri, among others.

Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi chief minister, met with all of the AAP’s MLAs on Monday at his residence and asked them to oppose any such demolition drives in BJP-run municipalities.

According to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, 63 lakh people will be displaced and the destruction will be the “biggest” in Indian history, and that the BJP is “misusing” power.
