Dhoni was questioned about his professional career after leading Chennai Super Kings to a record-equaling 5th IPL title with a last-ball victory over Gujarat Titans early on Tuesday.

“As you can see, now is the ideal time to make a retirement announcement. wherever I’ve played this year, the amount of love I’ve received. The easier thing for me is to say “Thank you very much,” but the difficult thing is to work hard for an additional nine months and return to play in at least one more IPL season, the legendary cricketer, who will turn 42 on July 7, added.

I have 6-7 months to make a decision, but a lot depends on the body. More of a gift from my end, I hope. Dhoni told pundit Harsha Bhogle, “I need to do something for them because of the way fans have shown their love and affection.”

When asked if he became emotional when supporters showed them affection, Dhoni responded, “You definitely get emotional. In the first game of the IPL 2023, which was played in Ahmedabad, I was simply walking around as the crowd was chanting my name. I stood in the dugout with tears in my eyes for a while, taking my time, and realising that I wanted to enjoy it rather than succumb to the pressure.

It was my final game in Chennai, and it was the same there. However, it will be enjoyable to return and perform my best.
