London, June 21 (IANS) Canadian actor Donald Sutherland (88), renowned for his portrayal of rebel army surgeon Hawkeye Pierce in ‘M*A*S*H’, general-impersonating US GI Vernon Pinkely in ‘The Dirty Dozen’, Sergeant Oddball in ‘Kelly’s Heroes’, Mr X in Oliver Stone’s ‘JFK’, and President Stone in ‘The Hunger Games’, has died after a long illness, as per his son and actor Kiefer Sutherland, reports said on Thursday.

“With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away. I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film,” Kiefer Sutherland said in a statement, the BBC reported.

“Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that. A life well lived,” he added.

Born on July 17, 1935, in Canada’s New Brunswick, Sutherland started as a radio news reporter in Canada before coming to London in 1957 to study at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He then took on small roles in British films and television shows.

Joey King added ‘cute little lisp’ to her voice for ‘Despicable Me 4’ character

Published

By

Mumbai, June 20 (IANS) Actress Joey King, who has done the voice-over for the character Poppy in the animated film ‘Despicable Me 4’, added a cute little lisp to her voice for the job.

The actress feels voice acting comes with the freedom to let loose and not worry about appearances for the camera.

“Recording voice-over for an animated movie is one of my favourite things because you have to give everything using just your voice. You end up making a bit of a fool of yourself to understand what the character is going through. You can’t be afraid to throw yourself around to make it resonate in your voice. The freedom to let loose and not worry about appearances is what I love the most, especially when I get to play such a fun, over-the-top yet endearing character like Poppy,” she said.

“I can really go for it, do some wild stuff and there’s no wrong way to do it. Poppy’s voice differs from mine because I added a cute little lisp to her voice, which is one of my favourite things about the character. I love when kids try to be all serious and make a point with that innocent, childlike voice, and in Poppy’s case, with her lisp. And although it wasn’t really my intention, somehow her lisp makes her come off even scarier,” she added.

Gru faces a new nemesis in Maxime Le Mal and his girlfriend Valentina, and the family is forced to go on the run.

Universal Pictures (distributed by Warner Bros. Discovery) is all set to release ‘Despicable Me 4’ in theatres on July 3 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Mumbai, June 20 (IANS) Bollywood multi-hyphenate Farhan Akhtar on Thursday attended the trailer launch of his home production ‘Mirzapur 3’ along with the star cast of the much-anticipated series.

Speaking about the large fan following enjoyed by the crime thriller across the globe, Farhan said, “Wherever I go in the world, I face three questions. Mumbai, June 20 (IANS) Actor Vikas Bhalla, who recently starred in the short film ‘Pravaah-The Flow’, has opened up on his shooting experience in Kasol in Himachal Pradesh, calling it beautiful and magical.

Talking about the the shoot, Vikas said, “Kasol, where we shot my scenes, is stunning and a must-visit for all travel enthusiasts. It was beautiful, magical… Weather-wise, it was cold in the middle of the night during our shoot. However, we had a super time shooting there.”

On relating with his character, the ‘Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin’ actor said: “I completely relate to it, and that’s one of the reasons I took up the role. Life is eventually not about your physical possessions, but the memories you make along the way. That’s what makes a life well lived. Being true to yourself and finding your calling is very very important if you want to lead a happy life.”

“Do not live your life to please others or according to what others expect from you, that is the biggest mistake we make. The earlier you find yourself the better will be your quality of life. After all, one life, so live it right,” he added.
