United States Vice President Joe Biden stated on Sunday that the two countries are essential allies while honoring India’s democratic development.
The United States joins the people of India to honor its democratic journey, guided by Mahatma Gandhi’s enduring message of truth and non-violence, as almost four million (40 lakh) proud Indian-Americans celebrate the 75th anniversary of India’s independence on August 15.
“We also commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between two great democracies this year. The US-India Strategic Partnership is based on our common commitment to upholding the rule of law and advancing human freedom and dignity. India and the US are essential allies.
“The strong relationships amongst our people further bolster our partnership. The thriving Indian-American population in the United States has bolstered our country’s innovation, diversity, and strength “added Biden.
The US president expressed confidence that the two democracies would continue to stand together in the years to come to uphold the rules-based order, promote greater peace, prosperity, and security for their citizens, advance a free and open Indo-Pacific, and jointly address the challenges facing the world.
US Secretary of State Tony Blinken wished the people of India a happy 75th anniversary of independence on August 15 in a separate statement.
