Simona Halep proved once again that she is unstoppable at Wimbledon this year as she defeated American Amanda Anisimova on Wednesday with a score of 6-2, 6-4 to go to the semi-finals.
When the 2019 champion defeated a shell-shocked Anisimova in 63 minutes to advance to her third semi-final at the All England Club, she did not exactly provide the fans who had paid 175 pounds ($208) for a Centre Court ticket with value for their money.
The American was left dumping racket after racket into her red bag as she was broken for the fourth time to trail 4-1 in the second set after Halep had won the first set thanks to Anisimova’s long serve return.
The 30-year-old Halep was broken while serving for the set at 5-1, and when she tried again at 5-3, Anisimova had her 0-40 down.
But after taking a couple heavy shots to the thigh at a deficit of 15-40, Halep’s legs began to move once again, and the 16th seed won when Anisimova mishit a backhand long.
