Heatwave in Delhi may reach 46 degrees ‘Yellow’ alert

Even if the weather office has predicted light rain or drizzle later in the day, the heatwave conditions are likely to persist in the national capital on Tuesday with the maximum temperature projected to settle around 43 degrees Celsius.

Delhi has been suffering from intense heat for several days; on Monday, temperatures in certain areas of the city reached 46 degrees.

On Tuesday morning, a minimum temperature of 29.8 degrees Celsius, three degrees above average, was noted.

At 8.30 am, the relative humidity level was 38%. The highest temperature on Tuesday is predicted to be in the range of 43 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Similar circumstances are expected to last till Wednesday when rains are expected to provide some relief.

On Monday, Safdarjung Observatory, the main weather station in Delhi, reported a maximum temperature of 43.7 degrees Celsius, four degrees above average and the highest so far this year.
