On Monday, India criticised Pakistan for criticizing it in the wake of two BJP leaders making inflammatory remarks against Prophet Mohammed.
The “absurdity of a chronic violation of minority rights talking about the treatment of minorities in another nation is not lost on anyone,” said Arindam Bagchi, a spokesperson for the External Affairs Ministry.
“The world has witnessed Pakistan’s systematic oppression of minorities such as Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, and Ahmadiyyas,” he stated.
Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan’s prime minister, criticised the BJP’s contentious remarks made on Sunday.
“All religions are treated with the utmost respect by the Indian government. This is in stark contrast to Pakistan, where fanatics are lauded and monuments are erected in their honor “Bagchi explained.
“Instead of participating in alarmist propaganda and attempting to sow communal conflict in India, we ask on Pakistan to focus on the protection, security, and well-being of its minority groups,” he said.
Following significant outrage in numerous Gulf countries, the BJP has already suspended national spokeswoman Nupur Sharma and fired the party’s Delhi unit media chief Naveen Jindal for their provocative remarks.
