The long-awaited Quad Leaders’ Summit 2023 got underway on May 20 in Hiroshima, Japan.

To kick off the Summit, the Quad leaders (Vice President Joe Biden of the United States, Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan, and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese of Australia) met.

Notably, the 2023 Quad Summit was supposed to take place in Australia, but the US President cancelled it at the last minute, therefore it will now take place in Japan shortly after the G7 Summit.

The debt ceiling talks in the United States led to the cancellation of the US president’s trip to Australia.

When asked if India would be willing to host the Quad summit in 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded yes during the meeting in Hiroshima, Japan.
