India wins gold and silver in the men’s triple jump at the CWG

Eldhose Paul, who earned a rare gold medal in track and field competitions, led India’s historic 1-2 finish in the men’s triple jump at the Commonwealth Games, and was followed by Abdulla Aboobacker, a competitor from Kerala.

Aboobacker concluded at 17.02m, which he achieved in his fifth attempt, while Paul managed his greatest effort of 17.03m in his third attempt.

Bermuda’s Jah-Nhal Perinchief took third place with a best leap of 16.92 meters.

India has won four gold medals in the triple jump at previous competitions, but this is the first time two of its athletes have placed on the podium.

In the 1970 and 1974 competitions, Mohinder Singh Gill took home a bronze and a silver medal, while Renjith Maheswary and Arpinder Singh placed third in 2010 and 2014, respectively.
