Budget airline IndiGo said on Monday that it has placed a definitive order with Airbus for 500 narrow-body aircraft.

This is the largest aircraft order ever made to Airbus by any airline. Financial information about the order was kept confidential.

Air India, a company owned by the Tata Group, placed orders with Airbus and Boeing earlier this year for 470 aircraft. At the moment, IndiGo runs more than 300 aircraft.

It still hasn’t received 480 of the planes it had previously ordered.

With this new definite order for 500 aircraft for the years 2030 to 2035, the airline claimed that it would have nearly 1,000 aircraft in its order book by the end of the following ten years.

An assortment of A320 NEO, A321 NEO, and A321 XLR aircraft are included in the IndiGo order book.
