Karnataka CM hints at a further reduction in fuel tax

According to Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai, his government is considering a further reduction in fuel tax following the government’s decision to reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel.

In an interview prior to his trip to Davos, Switzerland, to participate in the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting, he expressed optimism about the state’s ability to attract new investments.

“The decision (from the Centre) has come on Saturday night, let’s see, we will consider it,” Bommai told reporters in Bengaluru in response to a question about whether the state government would reduce petrol and diesel rates further following the Centre’s decision.
