Employees from the community took to the streets in several locations on Tuesday to protest the assassination of a lady teacher by terrorists in Kulgam district, threatening to mass migrate out of the valley if the government did not relocate them to secure regions within the next 24 hours.

“We have resolved that if the government does not take real actions for us (safety) within 24 hours, mass exodus would resume,” one of the protestors in Srinagar remarked.

He claimed that targeted killings of Kashmiri Pandits are still occurring, and that the community has grown tired of appealing to the government.

“We must be relocated in order to be rescued.” Our delegation had previously met with the LG and requested that he save us. We are requesting a two- to three-year interim relocation until the situation in the valley returns to normal. He continued, “It is the same time limit set by IGP Kashmir for making Kashmir terrorism-free.”

According to officials, a small group of KP employees gathered at the Ghanta Ghar (Clock tower) in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk to condemn the assassination.

Another group of employees gathered in Srinagar’s Sonawar district and chanted slogans against the union territory administration for failing to provide adequate security for Hindu community employees.

‘Administration hai hai (down with administration)’,’minorities ko jeenay do (let the minorities live)’, and ‘We want justice’ were among the shouts chanted by the protestors, who were primarily women.

To protest the shooting of Rajni Bala inside a school at Gopalpora in Kulgam district on Tuesday, KP employees in South Kashmir’s Qazigund town stopped one tube of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.

The protestors urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to intervene to safeguard the safety of Kashmir’s Pandit minorities.

The government has absolutely failed to provide protection for the KPs.
