On the occasion of ‘Jyeshtha Ashtami,’ Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal hailed Kashmiri Pandits and said the entire country stands shoulder to shoulder with them in their joy and sorrow.
The national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) made the remarks in the wake of a string of targeted killings of Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir.
“Today is Jyeshtha Ashtami, the Hindu New Year. On this auspicious day, (I send) hearty greetings to all Kashmiri Pandit brothers and sisters. May Maa Kheer Bhavani’s blessings always be with you all,” Kejriwal wrote in a Hindi tweet. “I want to reassure the Kashmiri Pandit community that the entire country is with you in your every joy and grief,” he added.

For the past few weeks, the AAP has been emphasizing the subject of targeted killings of Kashmiri Pandits.
On June 5, the party conducted a “Jan Aakrosh Rally” at Jantar Mantar to raise awareness about the issue. Kejriwal attacked the BJP-led central government for failing to provide security to Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley while speaking at the gathering.
He also requested that the government present an action plan to put an end to the deaths.
