In a hate speech case filed in Thiruvananthapuram, the Kerala high court granted bail to ex-MLA PC George on Friday.

George was detained on Wednesday after his bail in a case accusing him of making a hate speech against Muslims on April 29 was revoked by a magistrate’s court in Thiruvananthapuram.

On April 29, George was detained in the same case for allegedly making a communal rant against Muslims while speaking at the ‘Ananthapuri Hindu Maha Sammelanam.’

He was, however, released on bail the following day.

The 70-year-old former MLA provoked outrage when he asked non-Muslims in Kerala to avoid eating at community-run restaurants.

Following that, on May 10, he was charged with hate speech in connection with another event in Kochi at Palarivattom police station in Ernakulam.

On May 25, he was detained for breaking the bail conditions in the hate speech case in Thiruvananthapuram.
