On Monday, Lloyd Austin, the visiting secretary of defence for the United States, claimed that China was bullying and coercing nations around the world and that it was attempting to “redraw borders by force” and endanger their national sovereignty.

We face a quickly changing world, the US Defence Secretary stated during a press conference following a meeting with Rajnath Singh, the Indian Minister of Defence.

In addition to global issues like terrorism and climate change, we also witness bullying and coercion from China, Russian aggression against Ukraine that aims to redraw borders by force, and bullying and coercion from other countries like Russia.

The US Defence Secretary emphasised the significance of cooperative military drills between the US and India.

“Democracies must now unite behind our shared values as well as our common interests, not simply our common interests. India and the United States will need to take a strong leadership role in maintaining and defending the freedoms that are necessary for peace and development. Therefore, there is still more work to be done, but I am optimistic that the US-India Partnership will contribute to ensuring an open and prosperous future for the Indo-Pacific and the rest of the globe,” he continued.
