Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, unveiled a brand-new outreach initiative on Thursday.

People will be able to voice their complaints to her immediately through a helpline under the Sarasari Mukhyamantri (straight to CM) initiative.

People used to send the chief minister letters or emails, but now, she claimed, they will speak with her directly about their issues.

“This programme, Sarasari Mukhyamantri, is brand-new. I’ll be able to hear directly from the people of West Bengal about their complaints. Banerjee, who is also the leader of the Trinamool Congress, announced at the state secretariat that a helpline number, 9137091370, will be available from 10 am to 6 pm, Monday through Saturday.

Banerjee had launched a special helpline number and a website as part of the didi ke bolo (tell didi) project to allow people to have a direct engagement with party leaders after its poor performance in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The TMC leader was referred to by her supporters as “didi” (older sister).

The party carried out the didi ke bolo programme. The chief minister clarified that this is not political.

Banerjee stated that 500 call centres have been set up for the purpose, and more than 100 employees will be working there, and that all complaints will be given equal priority.
