Maneka Gandhi defends disgraced IAS couple in Delhi

Maneka Gandhi, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, defended the IAS couple who were sacked over the alleged misuse of a sports facility in the national capital on Saturday, saying the transfer of the officials is a “loss to Delhi.”

Following media reports of them abusing facilities at Thyagraj Stadium, the Centre dispatched IAS couple Sanjeev Khirwar and Anu Dugga to Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh, respectively. Khirwar was thereafter transferred to Delhi as Principal Secretary (Revenue).

“I’m well familiar with (Sanjeev) Khirwar. The accusations leveled against him are untrue. Delhi has suffered a setback as a result of his relocation “Gandhi stated the following.

“Delhi profited from Khirwar’s work as Secretary of the Environment Department. The punishment taken against him is entirely unjustified “She was adamant.

The BJP MP from Sultanpur went on to say that Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh are not areas for “punishment posting.”
