Manipur violence: BSF personnel would be stationed in the hamlet where three people died

According to sources, a Border Security Force unit is going to be stationed in the village of Thawai Kuki in Manipur’s Ukhrul district, where three people were slain by armed men on Friday.

Security personnel are searching the jungles of the nearby hills where the armed guys are allegedly hiding, according to them.

Days after Chief Minister N Biren Singh requested information from Churachandpur’s deputy commissioner and SP regarding a group of people’s public display of high-tech weaponry during an Independence Day parade, it is likely that a BSF detachment will be sent in the area.

According to additional sources, the BSF would likely be deployed in nine districts throughout the state to help the administration keep the peace.

BSF (EC) ADG Sonali Mishra and four other senior officials recently visited Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan and gave her an update on the level of security there.

The Army and the civil government offered food and medication to more than 200 Meiteis who had crossed into neighbouring Myanmar to flee the ethnic violence in Manipur and who had safely returned to the state after more than three months.
