Mayawati: Opposition parties boycott is unfair

Mayawati BSP Supremo

Mayawati, the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party, praised the upcoming opening of the new Parliament building on Thursday while criticising the opposition parties’ decision to skip the ceremony.

Despite having received an invitation, the BSP chief stated she would be unable to attend the May 28 inauguration owing to other obligations.

The BSP leader stated in a series of tweets on Thursday that the BSP has consistently supported both the central administration of the Congress Party and the BJP on matters pertaining to the nation and the general welfare.

Above party politics and taking into consideration the situation, the party also backed the May 28 inauguration of the new parliament building, which was applauded.

She added that it was “unfair” that the opposition parties insisted that President Droupadi Murmu launch the new structure.
