According to a CyberShield research, Microsoft continues to be the top target for hackers, ranking as the most faked brand for the second consecutive year.

Through Cam4, the biggest data breach of 2020 affected 10,880 records. The research also listed Google, Yahoo, Facebook, and Outlook as the other top five most impersonated brands, highlighting the frequency with which well-known internet corporations are impersonated.

The CEO of BanklessTimes.com noted that because phishing kits can easily change the counterfeit brand, threat actors have moved their attention to more well-known technological businesses.

Geographically, the Asia-Pacific region had the most data breaches, with a startling 91% of attacks concentrated primarily in Japan.

Europe came next, with the UK accounting for 43% of breaches. On the other hand, compared to the prior year, the Middle East saw a marked decline in data breaches.

The CyberShield report underlines the importance of ongoing watchfulness for cyber threats. Verifying requests for personal information, staying away from dubious links and attachments, and using strong, one-of-a-kind passwords are essential safeguards against spoofing attempts.
