Former boxing champion Mike Tyson strikes a fellow passenger on a plane, as seen on video.
The video, which was first reported by TMZ, showed Tyson leaning over the back of his seat and repeatedly punching a passenger.
Mike Tyson was filmed repeatedly punching a passenger on a plane at San Francisco International Airport in the United States before it was scheduled to depart. When Tyson was fed up with the man’s incessant attempts to engage him, he got into an altercation, according to reports. TMZ posted a video of the incident, which quickly went viral on the internet.
The incident occurred in the first-class section of a JetBlue plane bound for Florida, and authorities are investigating.
The video shows Tyson repeatedly punching an unidentified man in the head while leaning over the back of his seat until others intervene.
According to reports, the man was seriously injured and was bleeding profusely.
Tyson sits quietly while the man in the video stands over his seat, waving his arms and talking animatedly before the physical altercation.
It was a video that was being recorded by a different man.
So, Mike Tyson would never have to say “Leave Me Alone” more than once in his entire life?
An “aggressive passenger” on a flight started harassing Tyson and threw a water bottle at him, according to a statement from Tyson’s representatives to the AP.
“Two suspects were detained by police when they arrived at the scene of the crime. Non-life-threatening injuries were treated on the scene for one person. San Francisco police released a statement Thursday stating that “that subject provided minimal details of the incident and refused to cooperate further with the police investigation.”
It was Sarah Burchfield’s account that she had seen the man who Tyson punched earlier in the day at an airport bar and he appeared to be loud and argumentative.
According to Burchfield, “the belligerent guy was sitting right behind him (Tyson) and I saw they were interacting”. As soon as she heard about it, she went to investigate.
Officials with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, which has jurisdiction over the airport, claim to have received a copy of the video. According to a police statement, both men have been freed pending the outcome of the investigation.
Additional information from JetBlue was not immediately available.
55-year-old boxing ex-pro no longer competing. Several movies have featured Mike Tyson as himself and as an actor. It doesn’t stop there; he’s also an entrepreneur in the cannabis industry. SFGate reported that he was in San Francisco for the annual 420 festival in Golden Gate Park, where he was promoting his cannabis brand Tyson 2.0.
In 1987, at the age of 20, Tyson became the youngest heavyweight champion in history. He won 50 fights, 44 of which were by knockout. As a result of a rape conviction, Tyson was sentenced to three years in prison in the 1990s. In that case, he has maintained his innocence.
