Mizo teenager Jeremy breaks two CWG records (Video)

On his route to an incredible gold medal victory at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on Sunday, Jeremy Lalrinnunga experienced tremendous pain. The young wonder also broke two CWG weightlifting records.

The current Youth Olympic champion first successfully attempted to break the snatch record with 140 kg, and then he successfully lifted 160 kg in the clean and jerk to bring his total to 300 kg, a new Games record in the men’s 67 kg division.

The 19-year-dominance old’s was summed up by a huge 7kg weight advantage over Samoa’s Vaipava Ioane, his closest competitor (127kg + 166kg), who initially gained attention by capturing a historic gold at the Youth Olympics in 2018.

Edidiong Umoafia of Nigeria, who lifted 290 kg (130 kg + 160 kg), earned bronze.

This was India’s sixth medal and second gold from the National Exhibition Centre’s weightlifting competition.
