The MNS has claimed that two dargahs had been built on the Punyeshwar temple grounds in Maharashtra’s Pune city, amid the Gyanvapi mosque issue.

MNS general secretary Ajay Shinde announced on Sunday that the ‘Punyeshwar Mukti’ (free the temple land) campaign has begun, and he urged people to join the Raj Thackeray-led party in its fight to reclaim the property.

Shinde claimed that the government has begun to wake up in the wake of Raj Thackeray’s Hindutva attitude, citing a recent inspection of the Gyanvapi mosque.

“We’re battling for the Punyeshwar temple in Pune, much as Gyanvapi,” he stated.

According to Shinde, the Punyeshwar and Narayaneshwar temples in Pune were razed by a commader of Khilji dynasty king Alauddin Khilji, and later dargahs were established on the site.
