Modi and his Australian colleague have fruitful talks

On the sidelines of the Quad Summit here, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held “fruitful” talks with Australia’s newly-elected Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, during which the two leaders reviewed their varied bilateral cooperation and underlined their willingness to enhance it.

The two leaders are in Japan for the second Quad leaders’ summit held in person.”

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the talks focused on increasing India-Australia developmental collaboration across a variety of industries.

Albanese’s electoral victory was praised by Prime Minister Modi.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement, “Both leaders reviewed the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership’s multi-faceted cooperation, including in trade and investment, defense manufacturing, renewable energy, including green hydrogen, education, science and technology, agricultural research, sports, and people-to-people ties.”

Both Prime Ministers expressed their wish to keep the positive momentum in the bilateral relationship going, according to the statement. Prime Minister Modi has extended an invitation to Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to visit India as soon as possible.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also sent out a tweet, “My meeting with @narendramodi was warmly received, and we had a lively conversation about Australia and India’s entire strategic and economic agenda, including clean energy technology. Australia and India have never had closer connections.”
