Jill Biden, the first lady of the United States, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a visit to the National Science Foundation in Alexandria, Virginia.

The First Lady and the Prime Minister are meeting with students from the US and India who are acquiring the necessary skills to thrive in fields that are crucial to the economies of the two nations.

Dr. Sethuraman Panchanathan, an Indian American, is the director of the National Science Foundation (NSF).

The United States government’s independent National Science Foundation promotes foundational study and training in all engineering and science disciplines other than medicine. The National Institutes of Health serves as its medical equivalent.
