On Wednesday, Odisha resembled a boiling pot, with at least 25 locations recording a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius or more.

The entire western part of the state was oppressively hot.

Given that the temperature there reached 44 degrees Celsius, Nuapada became the hottest location.

In at least nine locations, including Bhubaneswar, the daytime temperature on Wednesday exceeded 42 degrees Celsius, according to IMD’s evening report.

Following Nuapada in order of temperature were Jharsuguda (43.4 degrees), Talcher (43.2), Angul (43.1), Sambalpur (42.9), Bhubaneswar (42.8), Sonepur (42.5), Rourkela (42.4), and Dhenkanal (42.3 degrees).

In Bhubaneswar, where the daytime temperature reached 42.6 degrees on Tuesday, there was only a slight increase.

Wednesday’s temperature in neighbouring Cuttack city rose to 41.6 degrees Celsius from Tuesday’s reading of 41.

According to the IMD’s projection, the daytime temperature won’t change significantly during the next five days.
