Samrat Prithviraj, starring Akshay Kumar, made Rs 10.70 crore on its first day, according to the film’s producers.
The film Samrat Prithviraj, which debuted in theaters across the country on Friday, is based on the life of famed warrior king Prithviraj Chauhan, who is played by Kumar.
Miss World 2017 Manushi Chillar makes her acting debut in the film directed by acclaimed writer-filmmaker Chandraparaksh Dwivedi.
Dwivedi said in a statement that the film’s first-day collection demonstrates that viewers have engaged with the story of bravery and sacrifice.
“The Samrat felt that India belongs to Indians and battled to the death to protect the country free of invaders. Our goal was to relay his tale to as many Indians as possible, and with audiences already hailing our tribute as a “must see visual spectacular,” he continued, “we want to continue to amuse our compatriots in the days ahead.”
Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood play crucial parts in Samrat Prithviraj. The film, which was produced by Yash Raj Films, was released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
The film is now tax-free in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, all of which are ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party.
