Wim Fissette, the former world number one Naomi Osaka’s coach, said on Wednesday that the two have parted ways after working together since 2019.
Under the direction of Belgian coach Fissette, Japan’s Osaka won the US Open in 2020 and the Australian Open the following year.
Fissette wrote on Instagram, “It has been a delight to train Naomi since 2019 and watch her grow into the champion she has become.
“It’s been fantastic to play a part in that journey. She has inspired a whole new generation to fall in love with the game and to speak up for what they believe in.”
Prior clients of Fissette’s included Victoria Azarenka, Kim Clijsters, and Simona Halep.
