A day before he dedicates the new Parliament building, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Adheenams on Saturday at his home and solicited their blessings.
On May 27, Sengol by Dharmapuram Adheenam seers from Chennai was received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a momentous occasion. Nirmala Sitharaman, the finance minister, also attended the historic event.
The Adheenams, who had earlier in the day travelled from Tamil Nadu, greeted Modi at his home and gave him special presents, including Sengols, while chanting “mantras.”
Modi honoured them while also asking for their blessings.
Despite a boycott by many opposition parties who believe President Droupadi Murmu should perform the honours in his capacity as head of state, the prime minister will inaugurate the new Parliament building on Sunday.
