PM & President congratulate “champion of champions” Sindhu

P V Sindhu won the gold medal in the women’s singles badminton competition at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on Monday, earning praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi who referred to her as “champion of champions.”

With a dominant straight-game victory against Michelle Li of Canada in the championship match in Birmingham, Sindhu added a Commonwealth singles gold medal to her impressive collection of medals.

The World No. 7 defeated her opponent, who was rated 13th, 21-15, 21-13.

A champion among champions, P V Sindhu is incredible! She exemplifies excellence time and time again. Her commitment and effort are admirable. Thank you for congratulating her on her gold medal at the CWG. I wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors,” Modi remarked.

President Droupadi Murmu stated that by winning the gold medal, Sindhu has captured the hearts of the country.

Murmu tweeted Sindhu, “You produced magic on the court, mesmerizing millions.”
