Procession in favour of Nupur Sharma in UP town amid Sec 144 case

According to an officer, a case was filed at the Gopiganj police station after a parade in support of suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma was held on Saturday evening despite prohibitory orders being in place.

Those who took part in the parade told reporters that Nupur Sharma was supported by the whole Hindu society, and that the BJP needed to honor her.

Following their scandalous remarks against Prophet Mohammed, the BJP suspended Nupur Sharma and fired its Delhi media leader, Naveen Kumar Jindal, on Sunday.

On Friday, protests erupted across India in response to controversial remarks about Prophet Mohammed, leaving two people dead and a few police officers hurt in stone-pelting, while security forces were forced to use lathi-charge, tear gas shelling, and firing in the air in some areas.

Inspector General of Police According to Anil Kumar, CrPC Section 144 is already in effect in the Bhadohi district, and any type of procession or rally is prohibited.

He stated that no permission was obtained for the parade, and that a case has been filed at the Gopiganj police station, and that harsh action will be taken based on a video of the procession.

According to the SP, the footage has so far identified 25 locals.
