Rashid Khan scores the first hat-trick of the IPL 2023

Rashid Khan, who is the stand-in captain of the Gujarat Titans, took the first hat trick by a bowler in IPL 2023. During the 17th over, Rashid took out Andre Russell (1), Sunil Narine (0), and Shardul Thakur (0).

On Friday, Rashid Khan, the stand-in captain for the Gujarat Titans, took three wickets in his final over against the Kolkata Knight Riders to become the first bowler to record a hat trick in the Indian Premier League 2023. Andre Russell (1), Sunil Narine (0), and Shardul Thakur (0) were all dismissed by Rashid in the 17th over, effectively ending KKR’s chase.

With the Kolkata Knight Riders cruising at 155 for four after 16 overs, Rashid came on to throw his final over and promptly gave up 35 runs in three overs without taking a wicket. In contrast, Rashid helped get his team back into the game by scoring three runs off the first three balls of the 17th over and finishing with statistics of 4-0-37-3.

As this was Rashid’s fourth hat-trick in Twenty20 cricket, he also became the bowler with the most hat-tricks.
