RS polls: mobile internet in the Tehsil of Jaipur are prohibited

rajya sabha in session

Mobile internet connections were shut down for 12 hours starting at 9 p.m. on Thursday in Jaipur’s Amber tehsil, where the Congress and other supporting MLAs are trying to stay ahead of the Rajya Sabha voting.

The divisional commissioner ordered the services to be halted, citing a security issue for those who were staying and traveling in the area.

The MLAs have been staying at Hotel Leela in Teshil since the evening after being transferred from Udaipur. They will travel from this hotel to the assembly building for the Rajya Sabha elections on Friday morning.

In a dig at the Congress, BJP state president Satish Poonia tweeted, “Internet shutdown in Amber due to fear of paper leak.”
