Foreign Minister S Jaishankar responded sharply on Saturday to Rahul Gandhi’s remarks that the Indian Foreign Service has completely changed and become arrogant, quoting unnamed European bureaucrats.
Jaishankar tweeted in response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s statement that the Indian Foreign Service’s personnel changes are a sign of confidence.
Indeed, there has been a shift in the Indian Foreign Service. Government orders are followed by them. Yes, they are able to disprove the claims of other people.
‘Arrogance? No,’ Jaishankar replied.
Confidence is the name given to this quality. The minister referred to it as “defending national interest” (sic).
Gandhi slammed the BJP government at the center on multiple fronts at the ‘Ideas for India’ conference in London and alleged that the ‘deep state’ in India is attacking and capturing institutions.
Gandhi also slammed the Indian Foreign Service during the Q&A session.
According to European bureaucrats, the Indian foreign service has completely changed, and they no longer listen to anyone.’ The arrogance is palpable… ‘There is no dialogue,’ he said.
