Sania loses her match in the women’s doubles at Wimbledon

Sania Mirza, an Indian ace, made her farewell Wimbledon debut, but her efforts were in nothing as she and her Czech partner Lucie Hradecka were defeated 6-4, 4-6, 2-6, in the first round after a grueling three-set match against the Polish-Brazilian team of Magdalena Frech and Beatroz Haddad Maia.

Mirza would have loved to play in her final match at the SW-19 for a little bit longer, but she will definitely remember the revered grounds where, in 2015, she and Martina Hingis won their first doubles championship.

The 35-year-old Indian veteran, who was eliminated in the third round of the mixed doubles competition at Wimbledon the previous year, would still have a chance to win the match by teaming up with Mate Pavic of Croatia.

The team’s opponent in the first round of mixed doubles will be Natela Dzalamidze and David Vega Hernandez.
