Albanese is expected to become Australia’s prime minister after Scott Morrison conceded defeat in the country’s elections on Saturday.
The opposition leader and incoming prime minister, Anthony Albanese, was congratulated on his election victory, Morrisson announced to his supporters.
In a statement to Sky News, Morrison said he would resign as leader of the Liberal Party.
I’ve always trusted Australians and their judgment, and I’ve always been willing to accept their verdict, he told CNN.
Anthony Albanese is expected to become the country’s 31st prime minister, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).
Ending Morrison’s nine-year reign as prime minister and the coalition’s nearly nine-year grip on power.
In 2018, Morrison was elected to the position of Prime Minister.
